Drain Cleaning
Drain Cleaning in Meridian, Boise & Nampa
A slow drain usually gets worse, not better. Grease, soap scum, hair and the mineral scale our hard water leaves behind build up inside the pipe until water can barely get through.
We clear the line properly with the right size cable or a water jetter, then check that it flows freely before we leave. If the same drain keeps clogging, we'll tell you why.
Signs you need help
- Water drains slowly or pools in the sink or tub
- Gurgling sounds from drains or the toilet
- Bad smells coming up from a drain
- More than one fixture backing up at once
- A clog that store-bought cleaner didn't fix
What we do
- Kitchen sink and garbage disposal lines
- Bathroom sinks, tubs and showers
- Laundry and floor drains
- Toilet clogs and recurring backups
- Camera check when a line keeps clogging
Recent jobs
Common questions
Should I use chemical drain cleaner first?
We'd skip it. Harsh drain chemicals can damage older pipes and make the job dangerous for whoever opens the line next. Call us instead.
Why does my drain keep clogging?
Repeat clogs usually point to buildup deep in the line, a sagging pipe, or roots in the sewer. We can run a camera to find the cause.

Water Heaters
Water Heater Repair & Replacement
Most tank water heaters last around 8 to 12 years. Treasure Valley hard water shortens that, because sediment settles in the bottom of the tank and makes the burner or elements work harder.
We repair what's worth repairing and give you a straight answer when it's time to replace. When it is, we haul the old unit away and install the new one to code.
Signs you need help
- No hot water, or it runs out fast
- Rumbling or popping from the tank
- Rusty or cloudy hot water
- Water pooling around the base
- A unit older than 10 years
What we do
- Gas and electric tank heaters
- Tankless installs and descaling
- Annual sediment flushes
- Thermostats, elements, anode rods and valves
- Expansion tanks and code updates

Common questions
Repair or replace?
If the tank itself is leaking, it needs replacing. Most other problems, like a bad element, thermostat or valve, are repairable. We'll quote both when it's close.
How often should I flush my water heater?
Once a year is a good rule here because of the hard water. It clears sediment and helps the heater last longer.

Leak Repair
Leak Detection & Repair
A small leak can waste a surprising amount of water and quietly damage cabinets, floors and drywall. The sooner it's found, the cheaper it is to fix.
We track down where the water is actually coming from, repair it, and show you what failed so you know what to watch for.
Signs you need help
- Water bill higher than usual
- A toilet that runs or refills on its own
- Damp cabinets, stains or soft drywall
- The sound of running water when everything is off
- Low water pressure in one area
What we do
- Faucet and valve repairs
- Toilet flappers, fill valves and seals
- Supply lines and shut-off valves
- Pipe repairs (copper, PEX, galvanized)
- Hose bibs and outdoor spigots

Common questions
How do I check for a hidden leak?
Turn off every fixture and look at your water meter. If the dial still moves, water is going somewhere. Call us and we'll find it.
Is a dripping faucet worth fixing?
Yes. It's usually a quick, inexpensive repair, and the drip adds up on your water bill.

Sewer & Main Lines
Sewer & Main Line Service
When several drains back up at once, the problem is usually in the main line between your house and the street, not in a single fixture.
We clear the main line and can run a camera through it so you see what's going on underground before you pay for anything bigger.
Signs you need help
- Several drains backing up at the same time
- Water coming up in a floor drain or lowest shower
- Gurgling toilets when the washer drains
- Sewer smell in the yard or basement
- Older home with clay or cast-iron sewer pipe
What we do
- Main line clearing
- Root cutting
- Sewer camera inspections
- Cleanout installs
- Pre-purchase sewer scope for home buyers
Recent jobs
Common questions
Do I need a camera inspection?
If the main line keeps backing up, or you're buying an older home, it's worth it. It shows roots, breaks and sags before they become an emergency.
Who is responsible for the sewer line?
In general the homeowner is responsible for the line from the house to the city connection. Check with your city if you're unsure.

Water Treatment
Water Softeners & Filtration
Much of the Treasure Valley has hard water. The minerals leave white crust on faucets and spots on dishes, and they build up inside water heaters and pipes.
We install and service water softeners, whole-home and under-sink filters, and pressure regulators to protect your plumbing.
Signs you need help
- White scale on faucets and shower heads
- Spotty dishes and glassware
- Dry skin or stiff laundry
- Water heater sediment and noise
- Water pressure that's too high
What we do
- Water softener installs and bypass loops
- Whole-home filtration
- Under-sink drinking water filters
- Pressure reducing valves
- Softener repair and resin replacement
Recent jobs
Common questions
Do I need a softener?
If you see scale on fixtures and spotty dishes, a softener will help and will extend the life of your water heater.
Can you install a softener I already bought?
Yes. We'll plumb it in with a bypass so it's easy to service.

Boise has a wide mix of homes, from early 1900s houses in the North End and East End to newer builds across the Bench and Southeast Boise. That range means a wide range of plumbing.

About
Idaho born. Plumber by trade.
Altitude Plumbing & Drains is a licensed, owner-operated plumbing company based in Meridian, backed by 12 years in the trade.
I'm Travis. I've been in the plumbing trade for 12 years, and I've lived in Idaho my whole life. This is home. The houses I work on belong to my neighbors, and I treat every one of them that way.
Over those years I've done a little of everything: shower valves and tub sets, faucets and vanities, water heaters, softeners and drinking water systems, and sewer lines dug up and repaired in the front yard. I've seen what good work looks like, and what it costs a homeowner when a job gets rushed.
I started Altitude Plumbing & Drains so Treasure Valley families could have a plumber they can actually reach. When you call, you talk to me. I'm the one who comes out, tells you what's wrong in plain language, gives you a price before I start, and does the work.
Family comes first
I'm a family man, and that shapes how I run this business. I show up when I say I will, because I know your day has plans in it too. I keep the work area clean, because kids and pets live there. And I fix things the way I'd want them fixed in my own home, so you're not calling me back for the same problem next month.
Giving back
A local business should give back to the place that supports it. Being part of this community matters to me, and so do the veterans who served our country. As Altitude grows, supporting local causes and our vets will grow with it.
What you can count on
- Straight answers. I'll explain the problem and your options, including when a repair makes more sense than a replacement.
- A price before I start. No surprise line items on the invoice.
- Respect for your home. Shoe covers, drop cloths, and a clean space when I leave.
- Work done right. Licensed in Idaho and built to code, so it passes inspection and lasts.
- Hours that work for you. Evening and weekend appointments, so you don't have to take time off.
